Liturgy Ministry
The Liturgy Ministry coordinates all aspects of the parish liturgy. As an advisory board, the members provide recommendations to the pastor and parish council for improving the worship experience. In general, the ministry plans, schedules, oversees and evaluates all liturgical activities.
Altar Servers: Assist the celebrant during the celebration of Mass and various formal rites.
Altar Decorators: Select and arrange flowers for the sacristy appropriate with the liturgical season and are also responsible for the altar linens.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion: Assist the celebrant at Mass and may be called upon to take Communion to the sick/homebound.
Lectors: Read biblical passages other than the Gospel during Mass and other liturgical functions.
Sacristan: Works under the general direction of the clergy. Undertakes the overall preparations of the liturgical celebrations.

St. Bernadette Music Ministry- Make Joyful Noise!
The choir ministers the Word of God through the gift of music. It leads and enhances congregational singing. It also sings music that may be too complex for the congregation to sing without extensive rehearsal. This allows the congregation to hear the texts of this challenging music which can be a comfort in times of crises and praise in times of joy.
Here at St. Bernadette’s our choir works in small groups assigned to each Mass and the groups rehearse when needed before or after Mass. We then rehearse and work together for our larger liturgies at Christmas, Holy Week and Easter and Confirmation. We always welcome new members from high school to adult. Our group of dedicated singers work to enable the full, conscious and active participation of the congregation by inspiring the assembled to worship in praise and song.
Cantors perform a very important ministry with the parish by proclaiming the Psalms and leading the congregation in song. Cantors should have a strong, clear, confident voice. The ability to read music is helpful. Interested parishioners in high school or adults can be cantors.
This group is open to children in kindergarten- 5th grade. They practice the five Sunday afternoons before Christmas and sing at the Christmas Eve Mass. Information about this is available before Thanksgiving in the bulletin.
We are always looking for instrumentalists( string, brass, woodwind) to play at various Masses throughout the year. And there is always a special need for pianists and organists willing to serve as a substitute from time to time.
